Gangnam Station Smoking Areas — Exit 7–8 Smoking Booth and Seocho-daero 78-gil (On-Site Photos)
Most of the Gangnam Station area is designated as no-smoking streets, so smoking on the street is subject to enforcement. The closest designated spot to the station is the open smoking booth in front of Exits 7–8, and the open smoking facility that Seocho-gu runs on Seocho-daero 78-gil is also close. If you are on the Sinbundang Line Exit 3 side, there is also a space next to the mechanical parking of the Gangnam 8258 Building that a user reported with on-site photos (pending verification). Besides these three, Seocho-gu and Gangnam-gu have registered more areas within 400 m, which are listed together below under the other registered smoking areas nearby.

Facility location and features
It is located on Seocho-daero 78-gil near Gangnam Station (a side street toward Gangnam Station Exits 9–10). It is an open structure measuring 2.4 m by 7.2 m that up to 20 people can use at once. Air curtains on three sides and four smoke purifiers in the roof clean the smoke, so even though it is open, the smoke does not spread outside much.

Things to note
If you are caught smoking in the no-smoking zones around Gangnam-daero and Seocho-daero, you will be fined. During busy commuting hours (8–9 a.m. and 6–7 p.m.), there may be a wait at the facility.
Options near other exits of Gangnam Station
Besides this facility, Seocho-gu public data also lists the open smoking booth on the Gangnam Station Exits 7–8 side. In addition, line-type smoking areas run by Seocho-gu continue along the side streets of Gangnam-daero (such as 156-1, 193, 213 and 221 Gangnam-daero), so if you are a little away from the station, one of those may be closer.
Why are the Gangnam Station facilities in Seocho-gu?
The Gangnam Station intersection lies on the border between Gangnam-gu and Seocho-gu, and the designated smoking facilities around Gangnam Station (the open facility on Seocho-daero 78-gil and the Exits 7–8 booth) fall under Seocho-gu's jurisdiction. Public designated areas registered on the Gangnam-gu side are still few, around the Samwon Tower and DB Financial Center on Teheran-ro, so people using Gangnam Station effectively use the Seocho-gu facilities.
