Incheon Airport Terminal 1 Smoking Rooms — Duty-Free Area and Public Area

Last checked 2026-07-18 · Incheon · Korean original

Many travelers end up dragging their suitcases around looking for a place for one last cigarette before departure. At Incheon Airport Terminal 1 there are two kinds of places where you can smoke: before security screening, use the outdoor smoking areas outside the terminal building; after you have cleared departure procedures, use the smoking rooms inside the duty-free area. There are no smoking rooms in the public area inside the terminal, so check your route in advance.

Duty-free area (after departure) smoking rooms — 3rd floor, 10 in total

After passing passport control, use the smoking rooms near the gates in the 3rd-floor duty-free area. They are near gates 10, 12, 15, 30, 40 and 45 (main terminal) and near gates 106, 110, 123 and 127 (concourse). If you remember the number closest to your boarding gate, you can go comfortably even right before boarding. Once you take the shuttle train to the concourse (gates 101–132), you cannot return to the main terminal, so concourse passengers should use the smoking rooms near gates 106, 110, 123 and 127.

Public area (before departure / after arrival) — 8 outdoor smoking areas outside the building

Before security screening or right after arrival, you need to go outside the terminal building. From the 3rd-floor departures hall, go out through doors 3, 5, 10 or 13 and you will see smoking areas immediately to the left and right. They are right next to the doors, so you do not need to cross any crosswalk. From the 1st-floor arrivals hall, go out through doors 2–3, 4–5, 10–11 or 12–13, pass the bus stop area and cross the crosswalk; there are 4 smoking areas along the taxi lanes.

Tips

If you are short on time on departure day, the smoking areas next to the 3rd-floor doors are the fastest (1–2 minutes on foot from the check-in counters). The smoking rooms in the duty-free area get crowded at mealtimes and during the morning peak (7–9 a.m.), so leave some extra time. Smoking outside designated places anywhere in the airport is subject to a fine.

3 common mistakes

① After passing security screening, you cannot go back to the outdoor smoking areas in the public area — smoke outside before screening, or use the smoking rooms in the duty-free area. ② After taking the shuttle train to the concourse, you cannot return to the main terminal, so if you plan to use a smoking room in the main terminal, go before boarding the shuttle. ③ Liquid e-cigarettes and lighters cannot go in checked baggage and may only be carried on board (aviation dangerous goods rules). If you put them in a checked bag, they will be caught at baggage screening.

Fastest route to smoke after arrival

If you have just arrived after a long flight, go out through the 1st-floor arrivals hall doors (2–3, 4–5, 10–11 or 12–13), pass the bus stop area and cross the crosswalk. There are 4 smoking areas along the taxi lanes, so pick the one closest to where you came out after collecting your bags. If you plan to take the limousine bus, it is more relaxed to smoke before heading to the bus stop.

FAQ

Is there a smoking room indoors in the public area of Incheon Airport Terminal 1?

No. Before security screening you must use the outdoor smoking areas outside the building (4 on the 1st floor, 4 on the 3rd floor).

Can I use an e-cigarette in the duty-free area smoking rooms?

Yes, both cigarettes and e-cigarettes can be used inside the smoking rooms. E-cigarettes are also prohibited outside the smoking rooms.
